Kiwanis Club Hosts Student Leaders - Student leaders from the
Vernon Key Club, Chipley Key Club, and Roulhac Builders Club joined
members of the Chipley Kiwanis Club for lunch Tuesday to report on
their club activities during the current school year, and plans for
next year.
Fishing Agreements for Lake Seminole and St. Mary's River Remain in
Effect - Florida and Georgia recently cancelled a longstanding
agreement that allowed both states’ resident senior citizens to go
freshwater fishing or hunting in either state without purchasing
licenses.
Law Designed to Save Young Lives Takes Effect July 7 - Florida
Agriculture and Consumer Services Commissioner Charles H. Bronson
today announced that a new state law that takes effect July 1
requires anyone under 16 who operates an off-highway vehicle (OHV)
on public lands to complete an approved OHV safety course in Florida
or another jurisdiction, and have the certificate in their
possession.
CHS Sports Banquet - A sports banquet honoring Chipley High
School track, softball and baseball athletes will be held Friday,
May 9.
FWC Encourages Recreational Fishing - The Florida Fish and
Wildlife Conservation Commission encourages families to enjoy
fishing in Florida this summer and is working with the Recreational
Boating & Fishing Foundation and 29 other states to get the word
out.
ECO Lifestyle Homes to Locate Assembly Plant in Chipley -
Washington County Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Ted Everett
announced today that ECO Lifestyle Homes, Inc. of Yorkville,
Illinois has affirmed their intention to locate a new assembly plant
in Chipley.
Speech Contest at RMS - Sixth graders at Roulhac Middle School
participated in the Tropicana Speech Contest on Tuesday.
Shriners to Hold Parade in Chipley Saturday - Chipley will be
the site for the area Shaddai Shriners Spring Ceremony, and in honor
of the event a parade through downtown Chipley will be held Saturday
morning beginning at 10 a.m.
Alligator Hunting Permits Go On Sale June 3 - The Florida Fish
and Wildlife Conservation Commission will begin selling
approximately 4,500 alligator harvest permits on a first-come,
first-served basis June 3.

Courthouse Installs New Security System - Effective Tuesday, May
6, a security system has been implemented at the Washington County
Courthouse.
Hearts of Promise Heart Walk - The third annual Hearts of
Promise Heart Walk was recently held in Prattville, Alabama.
Covenant Hospice Honors Nurses During National Nurses Week - The
work of America's 2.9 million registered nurses to save lives and to
maintain the health of millions of individuals is the focus of this
year's National Nurses Week.
Ventriloquist to Speak at Damascus Baptist - Ventriloquist Julie
Waller Boyd, along with her animated wooden friends -- BC Homes and

Women's Ensemble Tours Georgia - Suburban towns on the south
side of Atlanta were the destinations for the Baptist College of
Florida’s Women’s Ensemble Spring tour conducted in mid-April.
BCF Forms Disaster Relief Team - Traditional classroom projects
begin and end with a grade in the class, but that is not the case at
the Baptist College of Florida where students take seriously making
a difference and changing the world.
FGNW Announces Support for Toll Road - During a press conference
at the Dothan Area Chamber of Commerce in Dothan, Alabama Monday
morning, Al Wenstrand, president of Florida's Great Northwest, Inc.,
provided FGNW's endorsement of the proposed Panama City to
Montgomery, Alabama toll way.

Winners - The fifth graders at Roulhac Middle School held their
grade-wide Tropicana Speech Competition on Thursday.

City Council Wants
Commissioners to Vote Down Toll Road - The Chipley City Council

National Day of Prayer
- Local citizens gathered on the steps of the Washington County
Courthouse shortly after noon Thursday to observe and participate in
a National Day of Prayer.
BCF Holds Missions
Fundraiser - Students, faculty and staff gathered in the
assembly center at the Baptist College of Florida April 28 to watch
as four teams competed in a mock NASCAR race.

- Chipola College biology professor Dr. Virginia Baker is working
with colleagues at Florida State University and the World Health
Mission to unravel the mysteries hidden in the poor efficacy of the
malaria vaccine.

Northwest Florida's WWII
Veterans Visit Washington, D.C. - A group of about 100 of
Northwest Florida's World War II veterans visited their memorial and
other nearby memorials and monuments at the nation's capital
Wednesday.
Voter Education in
Local High Schools - A brief voter education speech was
presented to students at Vernon and Chipley high schools on
Wednesday, and seniors who were at least 17 years of age were given
the opportunity to register to vote.
PAEC Announces Employee
of Month for April - Holmes County resident Anthony Cooley is
PAEC’s April Employee of the Month.
BCF to Dedicate
New Prayer Chapel - The Baptist College of Florida in Graceville
