Chipley's Lady Tigers upended Pensacola
Catholic Tuesday night, 16-6 in six innings for the run-rule
win. Chipley will advance to the regional semi-finals
against South Walton Friday at 7 p.m.
Skylar Davis started in the circle for Chipley, overcoming a
shaky start where Catholic scored three runs to go up 3-0.
Pensacola added another in the top of the third inning, making
it 4-0 Catholic.
Chipley added a run of their own in the bottom of the third
inning, then pushed across three more in the fourth inning to
tie the game at 4-4.
Chipley then unloaded in the fifth inning, scoring seven runs
off of four hits and three walks. Rachael Fowler got
things started with a homerun to center field to open the
scoring in the fifth.
Chipley tacked on five more runs in the sixth inning to put
the game away.
Offensive leaders for Chipley were: Jessica Bush 2-3 with a
triple and single, scoring 4 runs with 1 RBI; Rachael Fowler 2-3
with a homerun, double and 3 RBI's; Kristen Garney 2-3 with a
double, single, 2 RBI's and 2 runs scored; Katelyn Davidson 2-4,
scoring 3 runs and driving in one; Kylie Mulrain 1-3 with 2 runs
scored; Skylar Davis 1-4 with 3 RBI's; Kassi Shackelford 1-3
with an RBI; and Hannah Guettler had four plate appearances and
walked 3 times, was hit by a pitch and scored 2 runs.
Chipley is now 19-5 this season.
