The Chipley High School baseball team honored
their 2008 seniors Friday, April 18, prior to their last regular
season game of the year against Vernon. Seniors recognized
included: Josh Roberts, Ryan Brown, Lance Bush, Jared Kirkland,
Zach Jadofsky, Zach Schaubhut, Jesse Carter and Billy Gilbert.
All of the seniors have played baseball for four years.
Their contributions to CHS baseball have been tremendous and
they will truly be missed.

On Tuesday, Chipley and Holmes County played a make-up game
that was previously rained out. Chipley defeated the Blue
Devils 7-6, behind a stellar pitching performance from Ryan
Brown. Brown pitched a complete game, giving up 10 hits
with three walks and eight strikeouts.
Offensively for the Tigers, Josh Roberts, Zach Schaubhut,
Brown and Kartsen Whitson all had two hits each. Leading
hitters for the Devils were Jeremy McGowan, Ty Short, Aaron
Mollet and Zach Hodge, all with two hits.
With the Tigers down 6-5 heading to the bottom of the
seventh, Brown and Whitson singled with one out. Jesse
Carter drew a walk to load the bases. Following a Tiger
strikeout, Jo Jo Taylor walked to force in the tying run.
With Lance Bush at the plate with a 2-2 count, Whitson scored
the winning run on a wild pitch.
The Tigers traveled to Dothan, Alabama on Tuesday to play the
Houston Academy Raiders who are coached by former major leaguer
Mike Mordecai. Houston Academy defeated Chipley 6-5.
Leading hitters for the Tigers were Taylor (2-3, double) and
Blake Obert (2-3, double). Stephen Sewell pitched five
solid innings in relief of Zach Jadofsky, allowing one run,
three hits, one walk and two strikeouts.
Chipley entertained Arnold from Panama City Beach on
Thursday. The Tigers prevailed 8-2.
Whitson earned his fourth win of the season on the mound,
allowing eight hits, one walk and 11 strikeouts. Justin
Chambers pitched one solid inning of relief.
Leading Chipley at the plate were Bush (2-4), Schaubhut (2-3,
RBI), Billy Gilbert (1-1, 2 RBIs) and Jodofsky (2-2, 3 RBIs).
Friday night Chipley celebrated senior night with a
hard-fought win over the Vernon Yellow Jackets, 6-5 in eight
innings.
Schaubhut and Bush limited the Jackets to six hits on the
night. Bush earned the win, pitching five solid innings of
relief, allowing no walks with 11 strikeouts.
Leading hitters for the Tigers were Jadofsky (3-4, double),
Jared Kirkland (1-4, double, 2 RBIs), and Schaubhut (2-4,
game-winning RBI single in the bottom of the eighth).
Chipley will be playing Holmes County in the first round of
the district tournament on Tuesday night in Marianna at 7 p.m.
