Literacy Volunteers of Washington County is in need of basic
reading and math tutors. If you have a couple of hours
mornings, afternoons, or evenings and would be willing to help
adult learners improve their math or reading skills, please call
Linda Marinaccio at 638-6317.
Many
students enrolled at the Washington-Holmes Technical Center, and
LVWC sites in Caryville, Country Oaks and Vernon need one-on-one
tutoring in order to raise their math and reading scores and
pass the G.E.D. test. Some learners come from local
schools for help with homework. Some have no basic
computer instruction.

Difference” award for her unending volunteer support for the
organization.
A Laubach Tutor Training class will be provided on May 15 and
16 at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, 736 West Blvd. in Chipley,
from 9 a.m. to 4. Glenda Norvelle of Panhandle Adult
Literacy Center will be conducting the training and will be
teaching techniques on reading strategies to work one-on-one
with the adult learner. A couple hours a week could
greatly benefit an adult learner enrolling in secondary
education classes, getting a job, or obtaining their
citizenship. Please call or stop by the Literacy office
located at Washington-Holmes Technical Center, and make a
difference in someone’s life today.
