Juana (Juanita) Selma Bermudez went home to be with her
Lord January 21.

moving on to working to help others. After her
children were married, in the 80s, she returned to Spain to
care for her mother and lived there until she herself became
ill with the onset of Alzheimer's disease in 1993, when she
returned to the United States and shared her time with both
of her daughters.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rosa Selma Lara
and Raphael Bermudez; a brother, Vicente Bermudez; her first
husband, Doss Nicholas; and son-in-law, Louis DeVita.
Survivors include her ex-husband and lifelong friend,
Cecil Richardson; two daughters: Thelma DeVita and Lisa
Jones; three grandchildren: Michael and Britney DeVita and
Jessica Jones, all of Chipley; a sister, Rosi Mead of
Smethport, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life will be held Monday, February
