Mary Madge Eldridge Hinson, 91, of Dothan, Alabama, died
Friday, January 8, 2010 at Southeast Alabama Medical
Center in Dothan.
Madge was born in Cottondale on December 16, 1918,
to Levy Jefferson and Mattie B. Eldridge. She and her
husband Jack moved to North Carolina where for many years
she was active in numerous community organizations before
moving to Dothan in 1989. Madge will be remembered for
her love of family, her generosity and kindness to many
people through the years, and her talent as a gifted
pianist.
Madge was preceded in death by her husband Jack, daughter
Janice; two sisters, Doris Dobyns and Evelyn
Runkle; two brothers, Buel & Joe Eldridge.
Survivors include two sisters, Jean Wagner (husband, Jim)
of Lafayette, IN., and Mavis Todd of Dothan; two
sisters-in-law, Marjorie Eldridge of Pensacola and Doris
Hinson of Sylvester, GA; one brother-in-law, Samuel
Dobyns of Lexington, VA.; and many nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 12, at
James & Sikes Maddox Chapel in Marianna. Burial will
follow in Campbellton Baptist Church Cemetery with James &
Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing. The family will
receive friends one hour prior to service at the funeral
home.
Flowers will be accepted or those wishing may make
memorial contributions to Lovewood Baptist Church or
Campbellton Baptist Church.
